Mozilla Firefox 3.1 Alpha 2 is now available for download for testers and developers. Remember its still in its Alpha stage of development which could mean lots of bugs and even crashes. Most improvements are barely visible as most of the focus has gone into improving the overall performance of the browser. Yet there are some new features that makes the upgrade worth it, when the stable version finally releases in a few weeks.
List of some of the new features in Mozilla Firefox 3.1.
- Tabs can now be dragged and placed in a new window. Similar to the Google Chrome browser we tested yesterday.
- The switch tab feature very similar to Windows Alt+Tab will now be integrated into Firefox. Currently Ctrl+Tab tab switch is available as an add-on for Firefox 3.
- Private Browsing mode similar to the Incognito Mode in Google Chrome.
- Tag Auto complete
- New HTML 5 and CSS 3 elements.
- Bulk tagging support
- Improved compatibility check during upgrades.
- Lots of performance improvements.
