The high-definition gaming console that includes the Blu-ray disc drive and 60GB of storage space was launched at a whopping price of Rs 39,990 (approx $850). Powered by the IBM-designed Cell microprocessor as its CPU, the 60GB launch edition of PS3 also included built in Wi-Fi adapter, 4 USB ports and memory card slots.</p>
<p>On 26th November 2007, Sony discontinued sales of the 60GB version and introduced the much-cheaper 40GB edition of the <strong>PS3 in India</strong>. But like most things Sony, the price drop came at a cost. The new model was no longer backwards compatible with the PS2 titles.
