The Gmail Undo option is one of the most useful features from the Gmail Labs. Here’s how you can active it and we Highly Recommended you enable it.
After logging into your Gmail account, go to Settings > Labs > Undo Send > Enable > Save Changes..
Now go ahead, compose a test email and click send. At this point, say you realise the message was sent by mistake or to a wrong person, you can quickly click on ‘Cancel’ which appears next to ‘Sending…’ (see pic below). To further ensure control over your sent mail, Google gives you 5 more seconds to undo the email sent. You will find an ‘Undo’ link next to the alert ‘Your message has been sent’, clicking on which would pull back your sent email and lead you back to the compose page. Remember, the ‘Undo’ link disappers 5 seconds after you send an email.
Gmail Undo Feature Screenshots
Although the ‘Undo Send’ feature is only for sent mail, I noticed that once a conversation is trashed (deleted), there is a link to undo the same, and this obviously is not limited to 5 seconds. Nothing great about this, as you could easily go over to your ‘Trash’ and Restore the converstation (mail).
